Lu Brows and MEI-CHA Permanent Makeup

Living on the North Shore, art is just bursting from all the familiar aspects of island life. Whether it’s an underwater mural on the side of a beachside lot, the local shop with pearl jewelry swaying in the window, or the surfer out on their board taking another face full of water, everyone is trying to create something beautiful and perfect what they do. I’ve always admired the way different artists hustle every day to come up with something new and inspiring. Permanent makeup is just the same! I always want my makeup to be the absolute #beauty inspo for every client.

Every once in a while, I have to ask myself, “Girl, what is next?!” Make sure you are getting that next glow-up! The key to becoming a successful PMU artist is not just about your initial skill level and passion, but how you are willing to grow as an artist and expand your world of experience.

There is no shame in saying, we all have room to develop more as a PMU specialist. The Mona Lisa wasn’t painted in a day! But the right company CAN help us create front-page Insta worthy brows and makeup. The MEI-CHA brand not only provides the devices essential to any PMU technician, but they also collaborate with artists and estheticians through their MEI-CHA PRO and Trainer partnerships. The best part of becoming a MEI-CHA Trainer is taking yourself to the next level by teaching others, sharing your knowledge, and applying your skills in new ways. Yes, thank god there are beauty Queens and allies to show us the way!

In fact, my PMU journey all began with MEI-CHA tools. When I first became interested in permanent makeup, they were always my initial point of reference in PMU tools and techniques.

Let me tell you, these products are #GOALS! I heard about them in Brazil when I was doing my first training, and it was natural that my first device was from MEI-CHA. Partnering up with MEI-CHA seemed like the clear next step as I was on my path to becoming a fully-realized PMU artist.

What is MEI-CHA?

MEI-CHA is one of the biggest permanent makeup companies based in southern California. Their products and services are currently available in over 40 countries worldwide. MEI-CHA is a distributor of top of the line microblading systems and other microtechnique products for permanent makeup application and esthetics focusing on micro-pigmentation. MEI-CHA was founded in 1983 and even invented and distributed the first motorized permanent makeup device.

What does it mean to be a MEI-CHA Trainer?

What is so exciting about being a MEI-CHA Trainer? Well, let me give you the tea!

In 2019 I was invited to join the MEI-CHA PRO artist collaborative partnership. MEI-CHA PRO artists are those that have excelled in their field and are specialists in their focus area of PMU and esthetics. MEI-CHA PRO artists have at least three years of experience and have shown their knowledge and technical skill of PMU tools while proving themselves professionally.

This year, on top of the MEI-CHA PRO collaboration, a new program has been established called MEI-CHA Trainers. I was excited to be invited alongside five other artists in the United States and Canada to this new and innovative partnership. This is MEI-CHA’s newest program created for talented PMU artists that are now using their skills to train and teach others. MEI-CHA Trainers are not only experts in PMU and micro-pigmentation, but they are individuals interested in sharing their skills while actively being a part of their community.

“MEI-CHA trainers are an exclusive group of artists who are masters at their craft and experts at showing up in their community. They have been chosen to help share their depth of permanent makeup and business knowledge, mentor up and coming artists and help the MEICHA HP create a safe space within the beauty industry that is inclusive, diverse, and full of real, good, authentic people.” -Kim Crider, brand strategy director for MEI-CHA

Why become a Trainer in the PMU industry?

Move beyond certification. Don’t be afraid to flex your beauty knowledge! Certification is not only how you solidify your skills as a PMU artist, but it tells the world that you know your craft and that your business is safe and trustworthy. Using MEI-CHA devices and products are a part of any PMU professional journey. However, growing professionals have to set out on their own PMU adventure. Traineeship not only helps others learn in order to reach certification, but it also helps you refresh your own skills and maintain your certification level.

Learn new techniques. Let’s talk about always keeping up. New products hit the market, while others fade away. Beauty choices change faster than a beauty blogger’s hair color!

MEI-CHA has helped PMU artists like myself stay on top of new industry tools and techniques. Companies like MEI-CHA lead the way in new microblade and microneedle beauty procedures, such as areola reconstruction and scalp repigmentation. These types of partnerships can help you stay aware of all the newest PMU movements while remaining an educational information source.

Evolve as a PMU Artist. MEI-CHA has been a great partner in the progression of Lu Brows and for my own evolution as a PMU artist. Like any artist, understanding and becoming a master of the tools you use is essential in becoming that one of a kind creator.  It has been an exciting journey, from using my first PMU tools with MEI-CHA to learning the techniques that would later become my own signature and finally being invited as a Trainer.

Ultimately, creating beautiful brows and lips that make people feel confident every time they walk out the door is the end goal for PMU centers like Lu Brows. MEI-CHA PRO collaboration and the MEI-CHA Trainers partnership is a positive way to elevate skills, stay involved in the PMU industry, and move your artistry to the next level.
